Germany and Covid
Life after Covid
constant.
waterfalls, mountains, fire towers, lakes
rivers, ruins, and big city scapes
It has been difficult for me to post about 2022, mostly because of covid and when I go back through the year, I notice how profoundly it has affected me.

I caught covid in Germany.
I learned this trying to fly home to New York.
I remained in Germany while my travel companions returned to the United States.
I couldn’t test negative, even after 5 days, even after 9 days…
Finally, I was allowed home after getting a doctor’s approval that I followed all the requirements to be allowed to travel.

The geology of this place is absolutely thrilling to me!

“This fireplace remains a mystery. Why was it placed here, 3/4 mile from the mansion? When was it built? Was it connected to a building at one time? No one who has lived on the property and who is still alive today remembers anything other than this free-standing fireplace. Although at a glance towards the top of the structure, it looks like something may well have been attached up there, no evidence of any building was ever found in the archeological digs conducted by the Town of Ballston in 2016 in this area.
Sometimes, history doesn’t give us all the answers.” Interpretive Sign

“This unusual rock surface is a fossilized sea bottom that is about 490 million years old. The round grey shapes are Stromatolites (or “layered stones”), which were formed in very shallow marine waters by cyanobacteria mats (often called “blue-green algae”). The layers reflect growth spurts of the mats that may correspond to tidal cycles. Many fossil marine animals, such as snails, trilobites, and brachiopods, are found between the stromatolites.” Interpretive Sign
